Holy Angels Students Demonstrate College-Level Achievement

The Academy of the Holy Angels is very pleased to report the results of the 2014 Advanced Placement Exams that were given this past spring. The College Board Advanced Placement Program enables high school students to take college level classes and earn college credit for them when they achieve passing scores. Holy Angels administered 401 AP exams in eighteen different subject areas to its 174 AP students who achieved an overall passing rate of 94%. A Holy Angels record was achieved when 84 of its students were named AP Scholars by the College Board. Of these students, 35 were named AP Scholars with Distinction, having scored an average of 3.5 or higher on at least five exams. An additional 19 students were named AP Scholars with Honor, which requires attaining a 3.25 average on four or more exams. They are Ava Bertone ’14 (Mahwah), Zoe Bliss ’14 (Dumont), Meghan Englert ’15 (Wyckoff), Jacqueline Fusco ’14 (Norwood), Brigid Hayes ’14 (Fair Lawn), Eliza Haynes ’14 (Allendale), Katherine Koh ’15 (Fort Lee), Annette Lee ’14 (Dumont), Claudia Lee ’14 (Rivervale), Jacqueline Mandella ’14 (Montvale), Breanne Mastromarino ’15 (Ridgewood), Shauna O'Shea ’14 (Bardonia), Rhea Shah ’15 (West New York), Margaret Sheehan ’14 (Glen Rock), Leslie Subaldo ’14 (New Milford), Julia Toolen ’14 (Midland Park), Laurel Villarente ’15 (Spring Valley) and Carolina Zuluaga ’15 (Englewood). This success was well deserved, according to AHA Principal Jennifer Moran. “Holy Angels is dedicated to academic excellence and enabling each student to reach the fullness of her potential.  We encourage our students to work diligently in all their courses of study and we are delighted with the results of their effort and the love of learning that it produces.” Founded in 1879 and located in Demarest NJ, Holy Angels is a private Catholic college preparatory school dedicated to the education of young women in the tradition of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. It is a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, a National Service Learning School, and is accredited by The Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Students from all faith traditions are welcomed. All are invited to its two upcoming Open Houses on Sunday October 5th from 11AM-3PM and on Monday, November 3rd from 6:30-8:30pm.
