College-Preparatory (CP) Courses

College preparatory courses are designed to challenge students and prepare them for the demands of college and university studies. These courses cover advanced material at a faster pace, helping students develop strong study habits, critical thinking skills, and effective time management. With a focus on problem-solving, writing, and analytical thinking, they encourage deeper learning and intellectual curiosity. By setting high academic standards, college prep courses give students the tools and confidence they need to succeed in higher education.

Honors (H) Courses

Our Honors courses are designed as rigorous, college-preparatory classes that challenge students to think critically, work independently, and engage with more complex material. These courses feature an accelerated pace, an increased workload, and more demanding assignments that require a higher level of analytical and problem-solving skills.

Students enrolled in Honors courses should be prepared to take greater responsibility for their learning, demonstrating initiative and self-discipline. Placement is determined based on departmental criteria and teacher recommendations, ensuring that students are well-suited for the academic challenges these courses present.

Holy Angels Classroom

High Honors (HH) Courses

These college preparatory courses are highly rigorous and designed to challenge students at an advanced level. They are equivalent to college-level classes and require students to work independently, think critically, and stay disciplined in their studies. The coursework is significantly more demanding than that of a regular high school class, with a heavier workload and complex material.

Teachers set high expectations and provide instruction at an advanced level to help students reach their full potential. Placement in these courses is based on departmental criteria and requires a teacher recommendation to ensure students are ready for the challenge.

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses

Holy Angels offers 15 Advanced Placement (AP) courses for juniors and seniors who have shown through their past academic performance that they are prepared for college-level coursework while still in high school. These classes provide a challenging curriculum designed to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and advanced subject knowledge. To ensure students gain the full AP experience and potential college credit, all enrolled students must take the national AP exam for their course in the spring.
