Holy Angels places such a high premium on the arts that it requires students to take two years of Fine and Performing Arts for graduation. In our Music Department, students can pursue theory in required courses like Music Appreciation or performance through courses in Theater Arts and Vocal Musicianship. The stage makeup demonstration and Italian Arias are two of the favorite activities of these courses. Musical Theater is another popular elective that opens students’ minds to the magic of this art form.
Cultural literacy is a given for the graduates of Holy Angels who take a required course in Classical Humanities. Trips to the Metropolitan Museum of Art are an unforgettable highlight of this year long course. College credit is available through the Middle College Program of Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Our co-curricular program is also exciting, extensive and comprehensive. It includes two honor societies: The International Thespian Honor Society and The National Tri-M Honor Society (music). The Academy Chorus, Orchestra, Vocal Ensemble, Handbell Choir and Jazz Ensemble (the only all-girl jazz band in the state!) provide a creative outlet for more than 25% of our student body. Requirements for membership to these organizations vary and interested students are encouraged to audition for membership. All of them meet after school.
Our annual talent show, drama and musical productions, ably supported by our versatile stage crew, draw enthusiastic audiences and gain recognition from organizations like Paper Mill Playhouse.
We hope you too will be interested in becoming an Angel in the Arts!
