One of only 7 high school fencing teams in Bergen County, our program has consistently garnered local and state recognition, winning many League titles as well as State District championships. Dedicated to the improvement of our talented club fencers as well as the inexperienced novice students of the sport, we pride ourselves in attaining a true team atmosphere where everyone helps each other to become better and stronger fencers. We are proud to host the Bergen County Tournament each January and strive to bring fencing the recognition it deserves in our County and State. Many of our graduates have gone on to fence at the collegiate level with highly competitive programs such as Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, Northeastern and NYU.
Year in Review
With only 5 fencers returning from last year and only 5 new girls joining the team, it was a very challenging season. Working hard to learn and grow together throughout the season, the girls had many good wins and many close losses. The team finished the dual season with a record of 6 wins and 7 losses. In a respectful showing at the County tournament held here at AHA, 1st year fencer, Stephanie McCarten placed 3rd in the Epee individual event. Team captain Bridget Owens and Jessica Schwanwede both were awarded 2nd team All League, while Emily Mills received Honorable Mention. For having such little experience, the team accomplished a great deal. We look forward to building upon what was started this year.
