The ultimate goal of Holy Angels softball is to provide each and every player with a positive experience, and in doing so, promoting the confidence, self-esteem and positive life skills that will serve every girl well throughout her life. The program, consisting of a JV and a Varsity team, prides itself in teaching the game the right way and playing the game for the right reasons with an emphasis on striving to be the best that you can be in an environment that stresses discipline, teamwork and sportsmanship….both on and off the playing field. The opportunity to get on the field and contribute right away as a young freshman is a very real possibility as we strive each year to build our program from the bottom up. With strong coaching, peer leadership and a commitment to improvement, softball at AHA is reaching for the fences.
Year in Review
Every year we go into the season with high hopes and a positive attitude. This year was no exception. With the addition of our new freshmen, together with our seasoned veterans, we were primed for a good year. As a famous coach once said “GREAT MOMENTS ARE MADE FROM GREAT OPPORTUNITIES”. Some of these opportunities were capitalized upon and some we let slip away. But by no means does this indicate a less than successful season. We played well enough to qualify for both the County and State Tournaments. We defeated arch rival Paramus Catholic three times, including a come-from-behind 8-3 victory in the first round of the States. Our final record was 12 wins and 15 losses…however most importantly, the effort put forth by this team and the confidence gained in each other meant so much more than our record. Their commitment to each other and the game they love was outstanding.
