International Students

The application process is completely online and begins with the creation of an account in our Blackbaud online community portal. Once created, a parent or student may submit the application and non-refundable application fee. A checklist will populate after the application is processed where parents and students can manage the application process. Applicant Portal

All applicants are required to take the SSAT. This test is used to determine academic readiness for AHA’s curriculum as well as course level placement for a student’s first year. AHA only accepts one score report per applicant and students are discouraged from taking the SSAT more than once. To learn more about the SSAT and to register for a test, please visit www.ssat.org.

In addition to the entrance exam, all international students whose native language is not English are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). This is to ensure students possess a strong, working knowledge of the English language to help them succeed in their classes at AHA.

• A score of 24 or higher on each section of the TOEFL is required to be considered for admission.

• TOEFL Junior or any other test of the English language is not accepted.

• International students may be required to enroll in additional ESL courses once their English skills can be fully assessed by our teachers in a classroom setting and school environment. Families are responsible for any costs associated with ESL classes or tutoring.

Applicants must upload final report card from grade 7 and the first report card from grade 8, as soon as it is available, to the Applicant Portal.

• We do not allow students to repeat a grade. (Example: if a student has already completed grade 9 at any other school, they may only apply for grade 10 at AHA.)

• We do not accept hard copies or emailed academic records.

• All records must be translated into English by an accredited translation company such as World Education Services (WES).

This is a wonderful opportunity for the Admissions Committee to get to know our applicants and the achievements they have accomplished. The AHA Recommendation Form is only available through the Applicant Portal. Three separate recommendation forms are required and must be completed by:

1. A current English teacher

2. Another teacher of choice or school counselor

3. The principal/head of school

Hard copy letters and emails are not accepted.

A personal interview via Zoom may be required. You will be notified should this requirement apply to you.
