The Academy of the Holy Angels is thrilled to welcome Alexandra Champ as the school’s new Athletic Director.  A Bergen County native, former Division I athlete, and accomplished coach, Champ brings extensive experience in coaching, athletic leadership, and youth sports development to the AHA community.

Champ attended the University of Pennsylvania, where she excelled as a D1 athlete in field hockey and lacrosse. While she initially pursued a career in graphic design, her passion for sports led her to pivot into athletics over 15 years ago. Since then, she has coached a diverse range of sports at all levels, from kindergarten through 12th grade, including cross country, basketball, lacrosse, field hockey, and soccer.

Most recently, Champ served as the Head Girls Lacrosse and Field Hockey Coach at Northern Valley Demarest High School, a position she held for 10 years. In addition to her coaching expertise, she has extensive experience operating youth sports programs throughout the local area, helping young athletes build confidence, skills, and teamwork.

“Strong women lift other women up,” says Champ, a guiding principle she is eager to bring to Angels Athletics. Her leadership style emphasizes character, integrity, and excellence, ensuring that AHA’s student-athletes not only succeed in competition but also develop the confidence and resilience to thrive beyond the game.

“We are beyond excited to welcome Alexandra to our AHA community,” said Melinda Hanlon, AHA President. “Her passion for coaching, her commitment to empowering young women, and her deep connection to the Bergen County sports community make her the perfect fit to lead our athletic program into the future.”

Champ, who resides in Demarest with her husband and three sons, will officially step into her role as Athletic Director on March 3. She looks forward to fostering a dynamic, competitive, and inclusive athletic environment at AHA, building upon the school’s long-standing tradition of teamwork, sportsmanship, and excellence.
