Angels Soaring into Collegiate Athletics

The Academy of the Holy Angels is proud to celebrate the incredible achievements of three outstanding athletes who have committed to continuing their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level. On National Signing Day, we honored these young women for their talent and dedication, which have brought them to this exciting milestone.

Katarina Kondratowicz – Stevens Institute of Technology – Soccer
Katarina’s soccer journey began at the age of 4, and her commitment to the sport has shone brightly throughout her years at AHA. As the Varsity Soccer Captain for 2024, Katarina led her team with skill and dedication. She has earned numerous accolades, including All-State, All-County, and All-Division honors, and was named Most Valuable Player in 2023. Katarina’s leadership on and off the field has been a source of inspiration to her teammates and all Angels.

Sophia Lee – Brown University – Fencing
Sophia’s exceptional talent in fencing has paved the way for her acceptance to one of the most prestigious universities in the country. Her discipline, strategy, and perseverance have made her a standout athlete in her sport. We look forward to seeing Sophia continue her success as she competes at the collegiate level, representing the values instilled at AHA.

Gina Certo – Boston College – Track & Field
Gina is nothing short of extraordinary on the track. She has been named Most Valuable Runner three times, earned NJ Female Athlete of the Week, and has broken—and then rebroken—numerous records. Dubbed the fastest girl in Bergen County, Gina is also ranked as the third fastest in New Jersey and the 38th fastest in the nation in the 400 meters. Last spring, she achieved remarkable victories, finishing first in four Bergen County events and two North Jersey Sophomore Championships. She also placed third in the 400 Meters at the Eastern States Championship. Gina’s speed and tenacity make her a force to be reckoned with at Boston College and beyond.

These athletes exemplify the strength and commitment that define an Angel. We are so excited to follow their journeys as they compete at the collegiate level and continue to make the AHA community proud. Congratulations, Katarina, Sophia, and Gina!

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious school serves young women from many cultural and religious backgrounds. AHA’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
