Clothing Drive at AHA to Benefit Angels in the Arts
Clean out your closets and donate your new or used wearable items to the Angels in the Arts Clothing Drive. This drive will benefit students at the Academy of the Holy Angels and Strengthen Our Sisters. Clothing Donation Services will be on campus on Sunday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CDS employees will accept bagged items directly from people’s vehicles to ensure that this event is contactless and COVID safe. All CDS employees will be wearing masks, practicing social distancing, and following all COVID-19 protocols.
Anyone who brings a donation on Friday, November 12, may place bagged items in the black bin by the AHA Attendance Office or on the designated tables under the tent in the back of the school. On Saturday, November 13, people may drop off their bagged clothing on the designated tables under the tent.
All donations should be placed in bags that are tied closed.
CDS can accept new or used wearable men’s, women’s, and kids’ clothing, including swimwear, shoes, boots, and sneakers. Donations may also include purses, backpacks, briefcases, belts, hats, gloves, socks, scarves, ties, wallets, jewelry, watches, blankets, sheets, pillows, bedspreads, quilts, comforters, towels, bath rugs, tablecloths, drapery, curtains, and stuffed animals. These items should also be bagged.
Please NO furniture, books, toys, glass, liquids, or breakable or miscellaneous items.
“The company weighs all the donations. Then, AHA-AITA receives a check within a few days based on the total amount collected per pound,” AITA Executive Board member Radhika Sahu explained.
Sahu suggested the AITA Clothing Drive after she hosted a similar event for her children’s elementary school.
“It was a great way to clean out your closets and help raise funds for the school in a green way,” she reported.
CDS has partnered with Strengthen Our Sisters to raise funds through the collection of clothing and household items. Funds assist SOS personnel to aid victims of domestic violence.
Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. The Academy’s current leaders continue to further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically, by offering a first-rate education in a nurturing environment where equal importance is placed on academic excellence, character development, moral integrity, and service to others.
