Holy Angels’ Inha Jun Named Female Athlete of the Week

Inha Jun, a senior at the Academy of the Holy Angels, has been named NorthJersey.com’s Female Athlete of the Week after clinching her second consecutive Big North golf title. With nerves of steel, Jun shot a one-over-par 71 to narrowly edge out the competition by a single stroke.

“Down to the last two holes, I told myself to be very calm and play how I normally do,” Jun shared in the article. “Think about it as practice.”

That calm, focused mindset has propelled Jun to the top of North Jersey’s high school golf scene. Over the last four years, she’s been a cornerstone of Holy Angels’ powerhouse program, helping the team remain undefeated in regular-season matches while capturing back-to-back state titles in 2023 and 2024.

Jun isn’t just a leader on the green. She’s an honors student who has committed to play Division III golf at New York University this fall, where she will study finance or accounting at NYU’s prestigious Stern School of Business.

Golf has been a part of Jun’s life since she was five years old, when her father introduced her to indoor simulators and weekend leisure rounds. But her passion deepened during the pandemic, when she began playing in local tournaments and PGA Junior events. Since then, Jun has competed across the country, with favorite stops including Maine’s Sugarloaf Golf Club and her home course, Haworth Country Club.

Her talent and dedication have been matched by her sportsmanship and team spirit. At last week’s Big North championship, Jun led a strong showing for Holy Angels, with teammates Olivia Lee, Ava Bang, and Angelina Kim all finishing in the top five. The Angels followed that up with a Bergen County championship win, where Jun tied for second place individually.

“Every practice, we push each other to be the best,” Jun said. “It motivates us to be even better and create a stronger team.”

As she wraps up her high school career, Jun leaves behind a legacy of excellence, leadership, and composure under pressure. Her next chapter at NYU is sure to be just as impressive.

Congratulations, Inha!
