Holy Angels Musicians Perform with Honors Ensembles

Some of the area’s most dedicated musicians study at the Academy of the Holy Angels. This year, several Academy instrumentalists were invited to showcase their transcendent talents in regional honors concerts.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center invited two AHA ensembles to perform at the Young Musicians of New Jersey Regional Concert. Those who appear at the March 22 regional event held at Bergen County Academies will have the opportunity to perform at Alice Tully Hall.

Flutist Sooah Jeon (’26) of Cresskill and violinist Hyerin “Ella” Eom (’24) of Palisades Park were chosen to participate in this regional concert based on their rendition of Franz Anton Hoffmeister’s “Duet for Flute and Violin in G Major, Mvmt. 1.”
Eom will also perform with violinist Hankyoung “Linda” Chang (’26) of Edgewater, viola player Faith Youn (’23) of Closter, and cellist Brianna Kim (’26) of Cresskill. This ensemble was invited to appear based on their presentation of Antonin Dvorak’s “String Quartet No. 12 in F Major, Op. 96, Mvmt. 1.”

Oboist Sidney Chung (’24) earned a seat in the Region 1 Symphonic Band, and flutists Elise Kim (’24) and Chloe Hahn (’26) were invited to perform with the Bergen County Band. All three of these honorees are residents of Cresskill and members of the Tri-M (Modern Music Masters) Honor Society.

AHA Middle School violinists Joonhee “Esther” Myung (’27) of Cresskill and Lauren Chung (‘27) of Closter also landed spots in the Regional Orchestra and were invited to audition for the All-State Orchestra.

“We’re extremely proud of them!” AHA Middle School Orchestra Director Brian Kirk said of his musicians. “Our bright young students who audition for these high-level orchestras and ensembles are a testament to the hard work they have dedicated toward musical excellence. We are proud to have them represent the music department and AHA as a whole.”

AHA Orchestra Director Andrew Monticello added, “It is always a privilege to work with such dedicated students who continually strive to challenge themselves by auditioning for these prestigious ensembles. Their effort is inspiring and I am very proud of everyone who took the initiative to audition.”
