Holy Angels Welcomes New Technology Director
Nadeem Akhter, an experienced information technology specialist, has joined the Academy of the Holy Angels as director of technology. Akhter succeeds Theresa Young, who held the post since January 2019.
The new director grew up in Karachi, Pakistan, where he graduated from Saint Patrick’s Technical High School. He later attended Rockland Community College and Vaughn College of Aeronautics. He graduated with a bachelor of technology in aeronautical engineering.
Before coming to AHA, Akhter was employed as an IT network specialist, an information system and audiovisual specialist, and an information system manager. His career has included posts at Finkelstein Memorial Library in Spring Valley, the Board of Cooperative Educational Services in southern Westchester, the East Ramapo Central School District, the South Orangetown Central School District, and the North Rockland Central School District.
Akhter said he developed his interest in technology while assisting patrons at the Finkelstein Memorial Library, where he built upon his technical training and troubleshooting abilities.
When he is not at work, Akhter enjoys building furniture, helping others, and staying up to date on the latest advances in technology.
Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious high school serves young women from a broad spectrum of cultural and religious backgrounds. AHA’s current leaders further the SSND mission to provide each student with the tools she needs to reach the fullness of her potential—spiritually, intellectually, socially, and physically.
