Hurst is the reigning junior world champion in the 1500-meter freestyle. Over the summer of 2023, she traveled to Netanaya, Israel, to participate in the Junior World Swimming Championships. She tested her skills against the world’s top athletes in the age 18 and under category and emerged from her event with a gold medal.
Hurst began swimming at the age of seven. She trains with Scarlet Aquatics, a Bergen County-based club
“One of my favorite parts about the sport is the team aspect,” Hurst said in a recent interview. “The people I swim with are some of my closest friends, and I love training and racing with such amazing and motivated athletes. I am excited to continue this experience at the collegiate level next year.”
