Hurst to Swim for UT

Swimming star Kate Hurst of Hillsdale inked her letter of intent to continue her athletic career at the University of Texas at Austin. Hurst is a senior at the Academy of the Holy Angels, which hosted the National Signing Day ceremony on Wednesday, November 8.

Her parents, Jayne and Justin Hurst, attended along with several classmates and Academy officials. Hurst wore UT gear and shared personalized treats with her guests. Watch the video of Hurst and her parents here:

Hurst is the reigning junior world champion in the 1500-meter freestyle. Over the summer of 2023, she traveled to Netanaya, Israel, to participate in the Junior World Swimming Championships. She tested her skills against the world’s top athletes in the age 18 and under category and emerged from her event with a gold medal.

Hurst began swimming at the age of seven. She trains with Scarlet Aquatics, a Bergen County-based club

Kate Hurst’s friends from AHA joined her on National Signing Day.

“One of my favorite parts about the sport is the team aspect,” Hurst said in a recent interview. “The people I swim with are some of my closest friends, and I love training and racing with such amazing and motivated athletes. I am excited to continue this experience at the collegiate level next year.”
