Discover how Judeo-Christian, Greco-Roman civilization shaped the modern world. Introduction to Classics includes great stories, histories, men, and women of the classical world. Begin with a study of the Trojan War and end with what is considered the first crusade. Read the Greco-Roman myths that are foundational to modern thought, and learn the history and important people of this bi-millennial period. Mythology and history will illustrate the classical roots of American society. In accordance with the philosophy of the Academy of the Holy Angels, the mythology will also be used to reconcile truth in Christian teaching based on the dogmatic principles of Nostra Aetate.

Jumpstart your world language studies with our exciting Carousel of Languages. Sample all four world languages (French, Latin, Italian, and Spanish) before you choose the world language you would like to study in Grade 8 and at the secondary level.

Experience an introduction to Latin vocabulary and grammar. Discover Latin’s practical application to English and the romance languages, the National Latin Exam, basic learning skills for all courses, and time-honored values.

Learn the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing. You will also study Spanish and Latin American culture with an emphasis on its influences in the United States. This Honors course moves at a rapid pace with high expectations in all skills. Coursework includes reading comprehension exercises and simple translations. Students who take this course are required to participate in the Spanish National Exam.

In this Honors course, you will be required to use the target language extensively, and participate in reading and listening comprehension exercises.
