Two Holy Angels Seniors Named National Merit Scholarship Winners

The Academy of the Holy Angels is proud to announce that seniors Sarah Kim and Christina Hur have been named National Merit Scholarship winners, an extraordinary achievement that places them among the nation’s highest-performing students.

The National Merit Scholarship Program, conducted by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, is one of the most prestigious academic competitions in the United States. Each year, more than 1.3 million students enter the competition through their performance on the PSAT/NMSQT, with only a select group ultimately earning scholarship recognition. Earlier this year, Sarah and Christina were also recognized as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, placing them among the top 1% of PSAT/NMSQT scorers nationwide. Their advancement to finalists, and then to scholarship winners, reflects not only exceptional academic achievement, but also the dedication, leadership, and intellectual curiosity that define a Holy Angels education.

This fall, Christina Hur will attend the University of Chicago, where she plans to study Philosophy and Economics with a specialization in Politics and Policy. Sarah Kim will attend Harvard University, where she intends to major in Psychology or Neuroscience and Music while pursuing a pre-med track.

In addition, Holy Angels proudly celebrated 12 students who were named National Merit Commended Students for the 2025–2026 school year: Sophia Smith, Lucia McClure, Kelly Vaughan, Norah Park, Roumei Li, Samantha Dipad, Alyssa Finch, Sophia Emmi, Eleanor Finnegan, Ambher Hazratti, Ava Sung, and Kaitlyn Zheng. These students ranked among the top 50,000 scorers nationwide on the PSAT/NMSQT and were recognized for their outstanding academic promise.

These honors reflect Holy Angels’ longstanding tradition of academic excellence and college preparation. For nearly 150 years, Holy Angels has empowered young women to lead with vision, voice, and values, and the accomplishments of Sarah, Christina, and the Commended Students continue that proud legacy.
