Is transportation available?

What is the dress code?

The Middle School uniform consists of a navy blue skirt, light blue polo and sweater. The option of uniform pants is also available. School uniforms can be purchased from Flynn & O’Hara in Emerson, NJ or by visiting their website.

Do Middle School students interact with Upper School students?

Middle School students will attend classes primarily in Kelleher Hall. There will be opportunities for interactions with our Upper School students in shared school spaces. For example, Upper School students may act as tutors, club leaders or mentors for younger students. Students in all grades will use the athletic fields, library, cafeteria and auditorium. All students will come together for school-wide assemblies and Masses.

What is the Middle School day start and end time?

Same as the Upper School, the school day will begin at 7:50 a.m. and dismissal will be at 2:05 p.m.

How many students are enrolled per grade?

There are approximately 25-30 students enrolled in each grade level. Since some classes have multiple sections, the average class size is 20 students which ensures that each student receives personalized attention.

Are advanced level courses offered in the Middle School?

Each student’s application will be reviewed on an individual basis. Assessment of current transcripts with accompanying curriculum and/or syllabus and a placement exam will assist in determining if the prerequisites to AHA’s courses have been met before any advanced course placements can be considered.

What criteria is used to assess Middle School applicants?

AHA seeks to admit girls entering grades 6 and 7 who are well-rounded (academically, socially, morally) and who are succeeding in their current learning environment. Our Middle School offers a strong foundational program to help close any gaps, while also preparing girls to transition to AHA’s Upper School. 8th Grade applicants are considered on a case-by-case basis, if space allows.

With a holistic, personalized approach to the admissions process, girls will be assessed on their grades, previous STS, content of essay, and interview with our team to determine the best fit for each family.
