AHA Blog: AHA’s ‘Secret’ to a Successful Open House

Months of planning go into a successful, memorable Open House. Just ask the Academy of the Holy Angels Admissions Team. Director Michèle McGovern and Assistant Director Jennifer Bullis handle every detail of these events, including the all-important recruitment and selection of the Academy’s Angel Ambassadors.

These enthusiastic students demonstrate the benefits of an AHA education as they lead personalized campus tours for prospective families, and answer questions from a teen’s perspective. Angel Ambassadors are well-informed about every aspect of Academy life. (They’re immersed in it!) They make future Angels feel at home, and leave a lasting and positive impression on future AHA families.

Here is some of the positive feedback the AHA Admissions Team received after the Upper School Open House held on May 17.

“Our tour guide, Faith, was wonderful and such a sweet and caring young lady. I was especially touched that she was willing to speak to my daughters (post-event) should they have any additional questions about AHA.”

“Our tour guide, Zaharah, was confident, informative, and extremely affable. She made my daughter… and her friend feel completely at ease (remarkable considering how nervous they were). Zaharah was such a perfect representative and we are so grateful for her time. Separately, this was a stand-out experience and helped us incredibly in what is a challenging decision!”

“We were very impressed by the strong presentations given and the students represented. Our tour guide was lovely! Overall, it was very warm and informative.”

Angel Ambassadors spread the word about the caring school environment that allows them to grow in terms of academics, character, leadership, and service. Here are a few words from future ambassadors.

“All my teachers care about how I am doing every day. They make sure I have the tools I need to reach my full potential. I have grown so much because I feel safe and loved at AHA.”

“I always learn something new in all of my classes. I never feel like I leave class without some piece of useful information.”

“All my teachers have made an effort to get to know who I am. I am not just a number here.” “Mrs. Delassandro really cares about me as a person and has been so helpful.”

“My teachers help me academically and spiritually. I never took a religion class before and now it is my favorite! I have been growing in my faith thanks to Mr. Blevis and Mrs. Ryan.”

“My teachers truly want everyone to succeed here. Rather than allowing us to be complacent, they want us to strive to be the best we can be.”
