Angels Honored with College Book Awards

Each spring, colleges and universities across the nation honor exceptional high school juniors with College Book Awards. These awards recognize students who demonstrate outstanding achievement in areas such as academics, leadership, service, and creativity. They reflect the respect top institutions hold for these rising seniors and are a meaningful acknowledgment of promise and character.

 

Last spring, the following Angels, now seniors, were honored with these distinctions:

 

  • Martine AlvarezRochester Institute of Technology Women in STEM Medal — awarded to a student with superior achievement in science, computing, and math, and a commitment to pursuing STEM in higher education.

 

  • Norah ParkDartmouth College Book Award — awarded to a student who has exceptional academics, excels in at least one non-academic area, and demonstrates kindness, curiosity, and community involvement.

 

  • Caitlin CareyUniversity of Rochester Susan B. Anthony Award — awarded to a student with a commitment to understanding complex social issues, leadership, dedication to community, and strong performance in humanities and social sciences.

 

  • Victoria Perez-VegaBrandeis University Book Award — awarded to a student who demonstrates a commitment to civic engagement, community service, political activism, social justice, or volunteer work.
  • Sarah ChoUniversity of Rochester Xerox Award for Innovation & Information Technology —awarded to a student with a strong interest and achievement in IT and innovation, leadership in applying new approaches to challenges.

 

  • Mina PumaRensselaer Medal Award — awarded for scholarship and achievement in math and science, and involved in extracurricular activities.
  • Olivia CutriUniversity of Chicago Book Award — awarded for outstanding achievement, community engagement, and intellectual curiosity that draws connections across disciplines.
  • Casey RamosJohns Hopkins Alumni Book Award — awarded to a student who has demonstrated a desire for intellectual and moral growth, independent and original scholarship, and the character to use learning for the betterment of society.

 

  • Samantha DipadRochester Institute of Technology Science & Math Medal — awarded to a student with superior performance in math/science courses, and commitment to pursuing related fields in college.

 

  • Francesca RigoliUniversity of Rochester George Eastman Young Leaders Award — awarded to a student with strong leadership in school and community, high grades in challenging courses, and extensive extracurricular involvement.

 

  • Sophia Emmi – Clarkson University Achievement Award — awarded to a student with outstanding leadership and academic interest in engineering, business, science, or liberal arts, and who makes a positive contribution to the school and community.

 

  • Mara SainclivierWilliam & Mary Leadership Award — awarded to a student with leadership inside and outside the classroom as a risk-taker, decision-maker, bridge-builder, and catalyst for change.

 

  • Alyssa FinchSt. Lawrence University Book Award — recognizes students who create service projects, motivate peers, and make community service a top priority.
  • Eva SantelliUniversity of Pennsylvania Book Award — awarded to a student with a rigorous academic program as well as leadership in student government, music, drama, athletics, journalism, or community service.

 

  • Eleanor FinneganUniversity of Virginia Jefferson Book Award — awarded to a student with creativity, innovation, and the spirit of discovery who also demonstrates citizenship and leadership that improves community locally or globally.

 

  • Gemma SisilianoRochester Institute of Technology Humanities & Social Sciences Medal — awarded to a student with superior achievement in humanities and social sciences, demonstrated through community and cultural engagement. 

 

  • Chanel HwangWest Point Dwight D. Eisenhower Leadership Award — awarded to a student with outstanding academics, athletics, service, leadership, moral character, and promotion of national service values.

 

  • Ava SungSimmons University Book Award — awarded to a student with outstanding leadership skills, passion for social justice, commitment to service, and kindness toward others.

 

  • Sarahsihu KimUniversity of Rochester Bausch & Lomb Honorary Science Award — awarded to a student with high achievement and rigor in science courses and excellent PSAT/SAT math scores.

 

  • Natalie TabboneRochester Institute of Technology Business & Leadership Medal — awarded to a student with superior achievement in business and leadership, demonstrated through innovative projects and service. 

 

  • Caitlin LiauBrown University Book Award — awarded to an outstanding student who best combines academic excellence with clarity in written and spoken expression.

 

  • Emily VonderhorstClarkson University Leadership Award — awarded to a student with outstanding leadership, academic interest in engineering, business, science or liberal arts and a positive contribution to school and community. 

 

  • Lucia McClureRochester Institute of Technology Computing Medal — awarded to a student with superior achievement in computing-related classes, projects, and applications as well as strong community involvement.

 

  • Kelly VaughanChatham University Rachel Carson Healthy Planet Award — awarded to a student who embodies the spirit of Rachel Carson in her dedication to sustainability and community development.

 

  • Eliana MeloneUniversity of Vermont Citizen Scholar Book Award — awarded to a student with outstanding dedication to scholarship in the classroom and citizenship in the community.

 

  • Sungmin ParkRochester Institute of Technology Art & Design Medal — awarded to a student with superior grades in art and design, creative thinking, strong portfolio, and involvement in the arts.

 

  • Reagan MirqueSaint Michael’s College Book Award for Academic Achievement & Social Conscience — awarded to a student who combines strong academics with a sincere commitment to community service, peace, justice, and concern for others.

 

  • Leyla ZiembaSaint Anselm College Book Award — awarded to a student who demonstrates academic success, exceptional leadership qualities in civic engagement, embodies Benedictine values, and aspires to continued education.

 

 

These Book Awards affirm the Academy of the Holy Angels’ mission of cultivating young women who lead with knowledge, vision, and compassion. Each of these seniors has already distinguished herself in her academic journey, and their recognition by respected colleges and universities underscores the bright futures that lie ahead.
