Meet Gigi
Gigi (’24) has been a member of Mensa since she was in kindergarten, and has led the Mensa Cares food drive, taught crafts, and headed discussions as a Mensa Youth Volunteer.
During her junior year, Gigi participated in AHA’s bespoke Oxford Study Abroad Program. She joined in seminars on critical thinking and public speaking, and enjoyed visiting some of England’s best-knowns historical sites.
She took part in the SEA Pre-College: Ocean Sciences in Woods Hole program, and was an AHA nominee for the New Jersey Scholars Program.
Most recently, she was named a Commended Student by The College Board®. She is also an AP Scholar with Distinction.
Gigi is involved in many AHA activities, and is now president of the Jewish Cultural Society, where she raises awareness of Jewish culture. She writes for the AHA Voice and has educated her peers about dating abuse through the PowerBack program. Gigi is an Angel Ambassador and a member of Angels in Anatomy.
Her many honors include membership in the National Honor Society, and the honor societies for students who distinguish themselves in music, science, and Spanish. Gigi’s work on the Spanish National Exam netted her gold and silver medals.
When the pandemic hit our area, this Angel and some helpers stitched over 500 protective face masks for medical staff and first responders. Gigi earned a special commendation from her mayor, who also proclaimed a day in her honor.
Gigi has immersed herself in the fine and performing arts. She has studied flute and voice at The Ridgewood Conservatory and Youth Song, and has sung soprano for the NJ Cantare Youth Choir and the NJ Choral Society. Currently, she plays first flute for the Academy Orchestra, and sings for the AHA Concert Choir, the AHA Liturgical Choir, and Seraphima, AHA’s select a cappella group. She has vocalized with the AHA Gospel Choir, the AHA Jazz Ensemble, and the Radburn Pride Choir. Gigi is also a cantor at a local church.
Gigi participated in the Bergen Community College Acting Camp, and is a regular in AHA’s theater productions. She recorded a part for a COVID-safe production, and performed dinner theater in the Student Commons while the auditorium was being renovated. She also facilitated AHA Summer Theater Program activities.
In her free time, Gigi pursues private lessons in portraiture and charcoal drawing. She is a certified lifeguard, and was a member of her hometown’s swim team for many years.
