Meet Katerina
Katerina (’24) excels at whatever she tries, including writing, dancing, and exploring Greek culture. Her exceptional GPA has kept her on the Principal’s List since ninth grade, and earned her the Dartmouth College Alumni Book Club Award. She is an Advanced Placement Scholar with Honors, and shares her knowledge as a peer tutor.
Katerina is well-versed in various writing styles. This award-winning poet edits the world news section of the AHA Voice, and drafted a novel at the Columbia University Summer Immersion Novel Writing Intensive. As a member of the AHA Writer’s Society, she inspires others through literature.
She showcases Greek dance and culture with Team Opa Paithia. In fact, she and her troop recently danced their way to second place in the Folk Dance Federation National Competition.
Her work with the Greek Orthodox Youth Association includes organizing the annual White Out Cancer dance, which netted over $30,000. She also teaches traditional Greek Orthodox values and faith to children at Sunday School.
Katerina brings traditional Greek music, dance, and food to the AHA community through the Academy’s Greek Cultural Society.
This Angel is a Girl Scout Gold Award candidate, and has received the Alpha Omega Award from the Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting.
She belongs to the National Honor Society, and the national honor societies for students who in science, math, and Spanish. She has earned a medal for her work on the National Spanish Exam.
As AHA Debate Team captain, she oversees the executive board and coaches new members. She is also involved with Junior States of America, a group that creates service opportunities and fundraisers, and encourages activism. She explores feminism through Equality Now.
Katerina’s work with the AHA Middle States Planning Team allows her to interact with AHA administration, faculty, students, and parents to develop protocols that create a school environment aligned with Middle States guidelines.
Visitors to AHA know Katerina as an Angel Ambassador. Her responsibilities include leading campus tours, and helping prospective students get an insider’s view of Holy Angels.
Outside of AHA, Katerina assists people facing food insecurity as a Community FoodBank of New Jersey volunteer. She organizes, packs, and distributes donated items.
Her career exploration has included psychotherapy and internal medicine externships, and an internship at a local corporation, where she computerized documents and managed bank reconciliation. Each week, she takes time to tutor and care for three children.
