AHA’s Fall College Fair Helps Angels Plan for the Future

Upper school students from the Academy of the Holy Angels took a closer look at the next step in their educational journeys at the Fall College Fair. Gina Hassa from the AHA Office of Academic and College Counseling organized the October 13 event, which was held in the Academy’s gym. AHA OACC Director Rachel Jackiewicz; Ms. Hassa; and counselors Rita Goff, Michael Statile, and Jennifer Trubac assisted the students, their parents/guardians, and the college representatives during the event.

Every Angel in Grades 9-12 had the opportunity to speak with representatives from 75 colleges in the United States of America, Spain, and England. Each class visited at a designated time to facilitate the “traffic flow.”

“Joanne Wang from Loyola University of Maryland said it was the BEST college fair she has ever attended,” Director Jackiewicz reported. “Parents and admissions officers all commented on how impressed they were with the structure and organization of the event. BIG thanks to Gina Hassa! Gina has been organizing the fair since February 2022.”

Attendees included (but were not limited to) representatives from Bryn Mawr College, Drew University, Drexel, Fordham, Franklin & Marshall College, George Mason University, Johnson & Wales University, King’s College, LeMoyne College, Marist College, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Notre Dame of Maryland University, Penn State, Purdue, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Roger Williams University, Rutgers University-New Brunswick, Saint Joseph’s University, San Diego State University, Seton Hall, Temple, the United States Military Academy, and Xavier University. Visitors also shared information about Universidad de Navarra, Spain; and Middlesex University and the University of Roehampton, both of which are located in London, England.

Founded by the School Sisters of Notre Dame in 1879, the Academy of the Holy Angels is the oldest private girls’ school in Bergen County. While AHA is steeped in Catholic tradition, this prestigious school serves young women from many cultural and religious backgrounds.
