President
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the Academy of the Holy Angels website! This is an exciting year for our school community- our students have returned to full in-person classes on campus, we are welcoming our new Middle School Angels in grades 6, 7 and 8 and we are all looking forward to an exciting year of academic, spiritual, athletic and personal growth for everyone in our community.
Since 1879, the Academy has offered an exemplary college preparatory experience to our young women. As the oldest Catholic independent high school in Bergen County, we are proud of our history. We continue to educate our students to be the future leaders our world needs most while ensuring that they remain true to the charism of the School Sisters of Notre Dame and the roots of our Catholic faith. Every day our students are living out the SSND province commitment to social justice concerns which include addressing climate change, promoting justice for immigrants, dismantling racism, ending human trafficking and working towards sustainable development in Haiti.
Our theme for this year is “Love is the sign”, which is taken from the words of our foundress Blessed Theresa Gerhardinger, “Love is the sign through which the world should be convinced that we believe in Jesus.” This is a powerful statement yet a goal I believe we are all capable of achieving here at Holy Angels. Our community is committed to creating a learning environment where all students feel safe and welcome.
I encourage you to check out our Admissions events. Our admissions staff is always available to help you and I look forward to seeing you here on campus. St. Francis de Sales reminds us to make friends with the Angels who though invisible are with us always. Come and visit us and learn the difference the Holy Angels experience can make for your daughters in grades six through twelve.
Wishing you many blessings, stay safe and healthy,
Melinda A. Hanlon, Ed.S.
